We continue our trip around Baikal.

Four kilometers away from the Small belfry lies a Baklany Rock, which has a shape of a watchtower. We will pass it on our way.

Today we will arrive in Bolshoye Goloustnoye village.

Accommodation at the tourist camp.

In the evening you can rent Russian banya (sauna)!

You will be amazed by the beauty of untouched nature, an extraordinary scenery of the wide valley of the Goloustnaya River, the unforgettable sound of the Siberian forest, the smells of wild taiga…

If there will be time, you can go to the observation point, see the local landmarks, visit the St. Nicholas Church with an amazing history of its rebirth. Particularly fascinating is a dramatic story of a salvation of the Nicholas Mirlikiyski Icon, that was carefully hidden under the arches of the sacred domes.

Also, in case of an early arrival in the village, there is a possibility of a short tour (on foot, upon request of tourists - horseback) along the picturesque forest trail to a lake, hidden in the depths of the taiga forest, which fills with spring water only once in 4 years. The rest of the time the lake remains waterless, and reminds more of a meadow filled with flowers.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, supper.

Accommodation: tourist base.

Day 6

We will visit one of the most impressive caves in the Baikal region – Ohotnichya (Hunting) cave.

Fascinating speleological adventure! A chance to see a real cave! Caving equipment is provided.

Day 8

After breakfast and packing we will continue our trip around Baikal. We will make a stop and admire the splendour of the Skriper Rock, which is known for its sandy structure. That is why the rocks are easily destroyed by the wind and water, forming a variety of picturesque forms - hollows, deepenings, caves. This rare mineral rock on Baikal is called jurassic conglomerate.

The cliff is also famous for the fact that an entrance to a fairly large cave was found on its slopes, consisting of two rooms with an area of about 60 sq. m. It is hard to imagine, but this cave was the dwelling of an ancient man! Ancient tools, kitchen utensils, jewelry that were found there, are related to the iron and stone age. The entrance to the cave is clearly visible from the lake, as well as to the left of the trail on the descent to Baikal from the Skriper Rock in the direction of Bolshoy Cadilny Cape.

Arrival in Bolshiye Koty village. The village is known for the biological research station of Irkutsk State University, founded in 1916 to study flora and fauna of Lake Baikal.

The organization of the camp.

Evening walk to the Skriper Rock. The trail is very picturesque and the views are amazing!

Meals: breakfast, lunch, supper.

Accommodation: tent camp.

Day 9

The final day of rafting. You can already see the traces of civilization - boats and ships. We are getting closer to the tourist center of Lake Baikal – Listvyanka village. We will spend the night here, at a guest house. Disassembling of the baidarkas, packing of the equipment.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, supper.

Accommodation: tourist base.

Day 10

We will visit the Limnological Museum that very clearly presents all the information about the Great Lake. Exhibitions are devoted to the history of the lake, the specifics of natural landscapes, seismic environment, the animal world of Baikal and the history of its studying.

The aquarium in which tourists can study Baikal fish, crustaceans and even cute and modest nerpas (Baikal seals) is everyone’s favorite exhibition.

On the second floor you will get acquainted with the tiniest inhabitants of Baikal. With the help of electric microscopes, it is possible to study tiny crustaceans, worms, fish eggs etc. in detail. At the end of the tour you will virtually dive into pure Baikal water. You will have an opportunity to become real researchers!

The climb to the observation point "Chersky Stone" which offers a beautiful view: entire Listvennichny (Larch) Bay, famous source of the Angara River and the legendary Shaman Stone.

Lunch at a café (at own expense).

At the end of the tour there will be a fascinating excursion waiting for you! Visit to the Ethnographic Museum in Taltsy village.

The unique park-museum under the open air, where you can see a collection of architectural artefacts that were doomed to drown during the construction of numerous hydroelectric stations on the Angara River.

You will see the estates of wealthy peasants, Volost Uprava, parochial school, the Spassky Tower of Ilimsky Ostrog.

Our Lady of Kazan Orthodox Cathedral, which was built XVII th century has a fair – shops and a square, where you can test your strength in different village competitions, such as "pillow" fights or stilt walking.

Taltsy is a great place for family holidays. Both children and adults enjoy swinging on Siberian swings and horseback riding. And in winter, there is also a favorite Russian fun - to ride the hill on a cow skin.

Arne Kaehler,
